Editorial Review: Product Description: Katniss is a 16-year-old girl living with her mother and younger sister in the poorest district of Panem, the remains of what used be the United States. Long ago the districts waged war on the Capitol and were defeated. As part of the surrender terms, each district agreed to send one boy and one girl to appear in an annual televised event called, "The Hunger Games." The terrain, rules, and level of audience participation may change but one thing is constant: kill or be killed. When Kat's sister is chosen by lottery, Kat steps up to go in her place. ![]() Rating: - Couldn't Put It Down (and can't wait for the next)Hunger Games is a fast-paced novel based on a futuristic plot where 24 Tributes from 12 districts must fight against each other to the death. Their war is aired live in a reality TV manner and is required viewing for all citizens. There is never a dull moment during these games. If the tributes aren't fighting against each other then the gamemakers are spicing up the game with ricks of their own. Suzanne Collins takes you through an entire range of emotions in this action-packed journey. You ... Read More Rating: - AWSOME BOOKI thought it was great. It really keeps you wondering at the end. Plus you feel almost like you where in the games, suffering. Rating: - You'll be hearing a lot about THE HUNGER GAMES in the weeks and months to come, if you haven't alreadyIn my Teenreads.com review of THE SILENCED by James DeVita, I noted that we have a love of dystopian novels. I think it's because we, as humans, like to be right. We like to be able to make correlations between the conditions we see in the world and possible scenarios about how those conditions could achieve Worse Case Scenario status. It's frightening, really, that we should want to be right about that. Maybe it could be that we're glad other people (authors) seem to share our concerns about our direction ... Read More Rating: - Hunger GamesBook Came in great condition. The slip cover was impeccable. Delivery was normal for Amazon, and the book was great. It starts slow but it sure does build up and then its nearly impossible to put down. Apparently it is the first book of three I believe, so we have a while to wait to see what happens next! Stephenie Meyer is a big fan of this book and thats how I heard about it. She is a fan for a reason. Suzanne Collins is a great writer. Rating: - Nice Bouquet, Terrible AftertasteThis is one of my least favorite trends in science fiction/fantasy literature. The book is entirely compelling, then instead of an ending, it has "End of Book One." $%! I wanted to read a whole story, not the first episode of another franchise. It's dishonest and mercenary, and makes all the fun I had reading the thing curdle in my memory. It's tainted. It's Crystal-Skulled. What a shame. Browse for similar items by category:
