Editorial Review: Product Description: A social worker follows karma and a sacred scroll to save a mystical child from evil in tibet. Studio: Paramount Home Video Release Date: 01/04/2005 Starring: Eddie Murphy Charlotte Lewis Run time: 89 minutes Rating: Pg13 Director: Michael Ritchie Amazon.com: Things started going downhill for Eddie Murphy around the time of this 1986 clunker, in which the comic actor plays a social worker predicted to be the savior of a kidnapped child, who has special powers to heal the Earth. Dennis Feldman's script and director Michael Ritchie (The Candidate), a once-thoughtful satirist, stumble over every link in a chain of fantasy-fueled sequences. Murphy phones it in, and Charles Dance (Pascali's Island) looks foolish in retrospect. --Tom Keogh Average Rating:
![]() Rating: - They don't make movies like this anymoreThere was a time when movies expected us to suspend our disbelief as they followed a hilarious plot without the burden of self-reference or irony. Eddy Murphy shines in this light and uninhibited search for the child who will save the world from its sins. Rating: - Funny, Funny, FunnyI saw this movie for the first time when I was 9 years old. 21 years later, I still laugh when I watch it. It has so many classic lines in it. "Only a man whose heart is pure can wield the knife and only a man whose a** is narrow can fit down these stairs." Ya gotta love it. It's Eddie Murphy at his 80s best and it's hilarious. It's a very good timepiece as well....in the opening shots, they show random scenes in L.A. and premium gas is only 99 cents a gallon! LOL! Rating: - Eddie Murphy saves the DayWhen a child with magical powers is kidnapped in Tibet, a Los Angeles social worker Axel Foley (Eddie Murphy) is destined to save the "chosen one" and defeat the demon Sardo Numspa (Charles Dance). Great role by Victor Wong as the beggar/Lama. Plenty of laughs, good action. Rating: - Great movie!I love this movie. I love Eddie Murphy IN this film. I can't think of any reason why you wouldn't enjoy it. It has comedy, love, adventure and fantasy all in one package. Rating: - Pass this one byWhat a terrible, low budget, movie.
