I leave them in the side of my hiking bag... they're light and take up barely any room. 12x power is very nice for such a compact design. Optics are good but not amazing. Only problem I have with this is 12x magnification. I should have bought 10x... or 8x. I don't have shaky hands but everything that you look at, shake so much it hurts my eyes after using more than 5 minutes at a time. As I have improved (aged), it has become more difficult to see winnie little car numbers from a distance.
