Rating:  - Lonesome Dove: The Outlaw YearsWe were not aware there was more to the Lonesome Dove series until we got on our favorite site, Amazon! We realized there were several others-before and after the Robert Duvall/Tommy Lee Jones DVD's. Now we have the complete series. The actors are different in the "early and later" DVD's, but they are great to watch. We believe these other DVD's complete the series. Rating:  - This entertainment offering deserves 0 starsThis episodic presentation of the Lonesome Dove theme is pure Hollywood, formulaic drivel. As far as a coherent, overall story line running from the beginning of episode one and through each show like that in the original Lonesome Dove series and its sequels, this weekly series tries to present each show as a complete story all its own. The cast of characters lacks the true western ambiance of that time. Some are so artificial and transplanted appearing they are laughable. The show tries to make a big deal out of how muddy the streets are, but the gun store owner's always perfectly coiffured hair do, antiseptic cleanliness, and unblemished complexion make a mockery of the true character of the people living under those harsh western conditions. This mediocre series is not worth one penny of your money and not worth even one star, IMO. Rating: - Lonesome Dove - Outlaw YearsI enjoyed the Lonesome Dove original movie and had to see it all. I purchased everything that had to do with the movie from Dead's Man Walk, Streets of Larado & Return to Lonesome Dove. I watched Commanche Moon and can't wait to buy that. The series "Outlaw Years" was good and wished it had continued. Rating: - Lonesome Dove the Outlaw YearsI was personally very disappointed in this DVD. Newt has become a hard man after the death of Hannah and he spends the whole series killing with no emotion. There was also a lot of emphasis put on prostitution which for me was offensive. Rating:  - Fantastic SeriesMy husband and I both enjoyed the Outlaw Years very much. Each segment was exciting and kept us interested the entire time. We have seen all of the Lonesome Dove movies now and have totally enjoyed them all. Great entertainment. |
