Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Security bar
It works just fine. It was much less expensive than others I looked at, but is of good quality.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - adjustment and installation a breeze
this product is exactly as advertised. it is sturdy and has enough adjustment settings to make it almost any length imaginable. i have had this for a year now and it has held up perfectly and i have not had any problems. no complaints with this product!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Gives ME peace of mind! And that's (much) of what matters..
Listening to the news (don't!), I agree with some other reviewers that many breakins/home invasions these days is due to a door being kicked in.
I think it's important to do all that you can do to prevent and or to minimize the threats and dangers that are out there and to be as informed as possible. (see also www.usconcealedcarry.com for FABULOUS articles among other things).
Then one day a co-worker of mine told me her daughter was a victim of a home invasion the day before. As usual, the entire family went to church and after church, they all met at the same restaurant for lunch. Her oldest daughter (married and with children) said she wanted to dash home really quick for something she'd forgotten and would be back in just minutes. She was only in the house a few minutes when she heard a loud knocking at the door and some male voices. Then she heard them dash around to the back door, and thinking quickly she grabbed her cell phone and ran into the bathroom, hiding behind the shower curtain and dialing 9-1-1 as they kicked in the door. It happened THAT FAST! Fortunately for her, a patrol car was in the neighborhood and all THREE men were apprehended. It could have been so much worse..she could have had the baby with her..so many things. I had assumed the door was not deadbolted, but it was.
I was so shaken to hear this. I ordered the door bar, and read all the reviews. I put the pin in the door bar at the appropriate length and placed it under the knob. When I tried to open the door (inside), the bar slid. So, I took my foot and tapped it firmly and then tried to open the door and it held just fine. I tried it on my floor tiles, and I tried it with a piece of carpet remnant underneath. The key seemed to be tapping your foot to 'lock' it into place.
I suppose the only way to truly give this product 5 stars would be if a would be intruder attempted to kick in the door and could not DUE TO this security bar, but I hope to not find out.
All I can say is this serves the purpose well for me; I like it's versatility, portability, structure and price and will be ordering more in the future (good to have one for the master bedroom).
I have acquaintances who are police officers and they recommend these type of security bars as a good part of your security planning.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Not worth it
It is not very often that product with good rating turns out to be useless.Purchased 2 couple of days ago.
The rubber footing slides on a kitchen tile so much that you can open the door from outside in 10 seconds. Not satisfied at all. It works a little better on the carpet but does not leave strong impression.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - "Dive" Security System
The dive I am forced to stay in has jimmy marks on the outside of the door hardware...The door bar in question gives peace of mind that the door will STAY closed when I'm on the inside, asleep. Saves on the hassle of firearms, and works well as a window jammer to stop entry from my fire escape when I'm away.
