I perfer hardcover books, however I don't have the space to keep them so this is the perfect item for me. I do have to admit there is the one draw back, the next page turn bar on the right hand side is to long. It should be shorter as I touch it by accident turning the page sometimes without realizing it then having to relocate the page I'm reading. Thnx Amazon Rating: - KindleI have been using the Kindle for about a month, now. I have found it to be a very handy substitute for conventional paper books. The downloads of new books are very quick. If I have a criticism it would have to be the lack of a back-light option on the reading surface. This would be preferable to the cumbersome clipon reading light now available for the unit. For some reason I seem to read a book faster on the Kindle than on paper, I haven't been able to detect any sign of abridgement of the text. I have no qualms about recommending it to my friends. The right hand page forward button needs to be smaller so I don't accidentally page forward when I move my hand. But that's it - that's all that is wrong with it. I can browse books by author, by genre, by name, by best sellers lists - and I can get a preview and read several pages before buying. There is a long battery life, and even recharging is very quick. I think in the six month's I've owned the Kindle I've saved enough in book costs savings (so very reasonable) to cover the cost of the Kindle. And joy! No old books piled up everywhere.
