Rating: - fragile, dropped once and repair will be $180.00The Kindle is fragile and the case does not securely hold and protect the fragile Kindle. At the same time the case provides a false sense of security. You think the case is holding your Kindle. I picked my Kindle up, it slid out of the case, and fell on the floor. It only dropped once about four feet and now it is worthless. Kindle support advises it will cost $180.00 to repair. I am retired and watched my Kindle like a hawk. I am also a registered nurse accustomed to handling costly equipment. I have the time to be careful, but what about someone who works and has kids? Customer Support answered my phone call promptly and professionally. I strongly advise using VELCRO to attach your Kindle to the case. Now that I own a Kindle I hope never to be without one. I like it! Rating: - FREAKING BRILLIANT!I am speechless over this thing. I coveted it since it came out, finally got one a week ago and, unlike so many other things in life, it completely exceeded my expectations. Rating: - Very pleasedThis was actually a gift for my husband's 60th birthday. He loves gadgets and reading, and getting books immediately rather than driving to the store. It's everything we hoped it would be, and we're looking forward to the fancier functions like adding notes. Rating: - The glamor wears off.My sony reader was getting a bit tattered and worn, so when the kidle came out i bought it right away. At first i was very impressed. The wireless made it so easy to buy new books. and the unit is very light weight. But as time wears on it gets old. The wireless uses alot of power, and only works in the united states. So if I go on vacation it has all the limitations of other devices. But it gets worse, whatever books i have on the removable data card must be manually moved on and off of the main memory to be read. This takes a long time. The batery life i a joke, i have often charged my kindle, used it for about an houre, then put it to sleep and woken in the morning to find the battery dead. At best the device has 2 days of light use per charge. The massive amount of power used on standby is pathetic. My sony reader lasted weeks at a time on a single charge. I have not used or charged my e reader in over a year, but when i turned it on last night (unlike the kindle it turns on instantly) it still had half a charge on it. Also, the lack of page numbers sucks, and the bookmarks bon't actuallymark your place they just save a little excrept of the page. The screen on my kindle broke on a recient vacation. This bring me to my really big gripe. Without the kindle i cannot read any of the books i bought (every other reader lets me read my books on my pc). So, instead of buying the far superior Sony reader 2.0, i have no choice but to bend over and take it and shell out for an over priced kindle. Rating: - In response to bad customer support in 1 star reviewsI just wanted to say that I was very concerned about contacting Amazon to let them know my Kindle had all of a sudden quit working. I was getting an etch a sketch look on the display for some reason. There were some 1 star reviews that left me thinking I was going to have problems with Amazon. However, I am very pleased to say that was not my experience at all. I called them this morning and got immediate, friendly service. I explained the situation, he had me try a couple quick things then told me he was shipping me out immediately a replacement unit and that he would overnight it. Took all of 5 minutes. I was very pleased with the customer support. |
