I've since returned from the "sandbox" and have ordered three more as Chistmas presents for family members. Since some of my family are older and less computer literate, I wanted something that had an auto focus feature so that they wouldn't have to mess with all that. The Smart Sound and Smart Light features make it a more pleasurable web cam experience as well. These cameras come with a stand so folks with a desktop computer can enjoy these as well. Like I said before, this is a great product and will make a great addition to your computer "arsenal". Rating: - Excellent productHave really only used it in the simplest mode but here is what I have experienced this far: -Easy to install. -Great Resolution. -Smoothly linked into MSN messenger. Rating:  - Good camera for web useMicrophone and camera work fine. Easy-to-follow installation instructions, worked on the first try. Camera works well, is pretty responsive, digital zoom is good. Found a couple of places where very bright backlighting caused the image to go dark, but I think any camera in this price range would do that. We use it with Skype and it has excellent resolution and less choppiness than other cameras we've seen. My wife says the only problem is that it doesn't have that feature to take 15 years off your image. I think that's only on the _really_ expensive cameras... :-) Rating: - quite good overall, poor stand for a monitorThis has worked well. It has excellent resolution, the software was easy to install and adjust. It came up immediately in skype. The microphone is OK. The webcam attaches easily to both of our two laptops. The problem is the stand needed for a workstation monitor. The base is small and not sufficiently heavy, the pole is long and, amazingly, doesn't lock into the stand. It tips over at the slightest provocation, the rod detaching from the base in a clatter. I'm thinking of gluing the base to a strip or square of plywood and gluing the rod into the base. You think they would have spent the little extra to deal with this. So, overall excellent for the laptop, but not for a monitor. I bought it for both, naively thinking, apparently, they couldn't mess up a simple stand. Rating:  - Open boxI would not recommend ordering this from Amazon as the box the product was in (not the bigger, amazon box) was opened and was not in good shape at all. |
