The disc from the dealer wouldn't even load up. It came up with all sorts of compatibility errors. Checking the box again I did meet or exceed XP compatibility (all updates, 2 Ghz pentium, 1 gig RAM, & all the other good stuff). All previous virus and spyware was uninstalled. Let's try the tech line....OK, the tech advised after going over the details with me to try to download off the internet then type in the product code to load. It looked like it was going great. Loaded and came up to for my settings. Well, the first update totally jammed up the computer and it froze up the window. Try again. No good. Let's now uninstall the program and try all over. No Good! It wouldn't uninstall. The window froze up trying to uninstall. Obviously we have a problem here. Then on restarting I got the blue screen of death! The computer has since been formatted and XP reloaded without any problems. Call the tech/billing support again and gave the case number to get a move on things from the previous call. This time the techie wants to refer me to the 2-tier tech. I said no, any software that gives this much trouble isn't worth $64.99 and I'd like a refund. They said no. The seal was broken so the store won't give a refund and Trend doesn't do refunds on software not downloaded from thier web site. How charming of them! I would not recommend this product at all and will refuse to buy any of their junk in the future. After seeing all the rebate notices after purchasing this product maybe they are just trying to dump it on the market. Buyer be warned! Rating: - good productGood product at a good price. Only problem I had was working with Microsoft Vista. Had to download a patch but was easy enough. Good technical support as well. Rating: - Top of the lineBeing a tech who works security I deal with a lot of products. There are a small number of products which are worth buying, but this is one of them. Installation is simple, if you follow the CLEAR instructions. I believe the people who had problems installing the product probably have trouble with everything and nothing can be done about user problems. The product is not as intrusive as some of the other well known brands that hose up your computer. I run this product on many computers and my higher end gaming computer runs it great with games that have high graphic demands. It also does well on the lower end machines I have. This is not the only good product out there, but it is hard to beat. Rating: - DubiousI purchased this security program for my PC. The program was paranoid, slowed down my computer and kept sending me URL's that were linked to my computer and offering to block them for me while I was on the office network. There was no way of disabling this function, and when I'd be working on word documents, not even logged onto internet, program would freeze while warnings came up. It was most frustrating. To top it off, 2 weeks after installing the softwear, the PC ceased to work, and I ended up having to wipe the hard drive as it appeared that there were corrupt files. I'm not entirely sure if Trend Micro program was responsible/not however when the PC was set up again I switched to McAfee, and have had no problems since. Draw your own conclusions. I now have Blue Screen of Death, my OS must be reinstall losing ALL DATA!!!! here what I wrote TrendMicro... i have installED your software on my desktop. the machine is virus free prior to the install. As I was rolling back some of your setting in the Changes Found dialog your software (in the background) preformed an update. I NOW AM UNABLE TO REBOOT MY PC. I GET A BLUE SCREEN. I have your software still installed on my laptop. I'M DISSAPOINTED YOU WILL HAVE A FEATURE TO ROLL BACK SOFTWARE CHANGES THE OS IMPLEMENTS AND DEEM MY PC USELESS. If you can tell me how to fix without out loss of data that will be great. Your product works well, even too well freezing my machine from time to time. I should have stuck with just your free online scan I SUGGEST YOU REMOVE OR DISABLED THE "PREVENT UNAUTHORIZATED CHANGES" FEATURE IN YOUR SOFTWARE |
