I have tried some Fitness DVD before and I think that by far this is the most challenging one! By the time I finished I was soaked in sweat and absolutely exhausted. Today was my first day and I am ready to be in pain tomorrow!! If you are really serious about shedding those unwanted pounds you should buy this DVD! Jillian Michaels is absolutely awesome!



Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Good workout for time-crunched
I purchased this DVD along with a couple of others about a month ago. I wanted this DVD to use on those days when I oversleep or am time-crunched. I didn't want any excuses for missing a workout. This DVD is great because Jillian keeps your heart rate up the entire time which makes it pretty challenging. She has two people working out with her, each giving a beginner and an advanced version of the exercise.

I was sweating more after doing this DVD for 20 minutes than I was the first time I did the Beginners Frontside DVD (which is 45 minutes), but I found that I wasn't as sore the next day as I was with the other DVD.

While I really enjoyed this workout and will continue to do it when I'm short on time or on Sundays (my rest day), I don't know if 20 minutes of working out is going to make a huge difference without doing other things and that's why I gave it four stars rather than five.

I've been doing a mix of pilates, kickboxing, and running for the past two years and consider myself to be in pretty good shape; this DVD kicked my a$$ - I got through the first level o.k., so the next day I did the second level and before I could finish the third part of the second level, my body just refused to go any further. For some people this is probably not the best option, but for me it was the perfect opportunity to push my limits and sort of "re-train" my body. It's hard to get through the first few times, but you're thankful for it the next day when you realize how hard your sore muscles worked after only 20 minutes of exercise; and honestly, I really like Jillian's demanding training style. The only thing that is extremely annoying is the fact that you cannot skip past the stupid intro at the beginning of the DVD. But if you can ignore that, this is one of the best fitness videos out there.



Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Quick and Simple with Results
This concise and effective workout grows with you as you improve your fitness level! This one disk contains three workouts of increasing intensity. All three are based on her 3-2-1 system. Three minutes of strength, two minutes of cardio, and one minute of abs. The exercises she uses are simple and occasionally remind me of elementary school PE, but she keeps the variety up among the three workouts.

The only thing you need is hand weights (and a mat if you are working out on a hard surface). No expensive equipment required!

Personally, I love the simplicity of the moves (although I hate jumping jacks - they work!). This is definitely not for anyone who may have trouble with high-impact cardio. The cardio is almost all jumping based - jumping jacks, [...] kicks, jumping rope, etc. But it's only two minutes at a time!

Jillian's coaching style is not for everyone. I would recommend previewing her personality on the Biggest Loser or one of her other DVDs available on Comcast (sometimes) or Netflix instant viewing.

Her style is no-nonsense. She jumps right into the moves, so definitely watch each routine once through before attempting the workout. I wouldn't recommend just watching - get up and mimic her form and make sure you understand the moves. They aren't complicated but she does give tips throughout for avoiding injury and making sure you catch those by actually doing the exercise will help you ensure you safely get the maximum results.

Keep in mind that it is unlikely you will lose the advertised 20 lbs in 30 days unless you are completely inactive starting the program. That being said, even the most dedicated of athletes could use these routines for variety and to challenge themselves.

I only have done this once so far, but it kicked my [...]!!! I have gone to several kickboxing and body pump classes and the intensity of this workout is very comparable! Love it!
